As journalism students enrolled in a special topics course at Roosevelt University, our goal as a team was to produce a series of written
stories and also multimedia (video, photography, sound slideshows and podcasts),
utilizing Facebook, Twitter and other social media to promote and also
disseminate the stories. In short, this course was a hands-on examination of
murder in Chicago—its financial costs to society, its social impact, causes,
current trends and possible solutions.
Using the traditional tools of news gathering as well as digital technology, students took to the streets and communities of Chicago, seeking a human story. Our findings appear here on this website.
